The Board of Trustees of the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) has appointed Dr. Eileen Glover as Interim President of River Valley Community College (RVCC), located in Claremont, New Hampshire, with academic centers in Keene and Lebanon. Dr. Glover was appointed to a 12-month term beginning upon President Alfred Williams’ retirement on July 10.

Dr. Glover has served as the department chair for Allied Health programs at RVCC since 2021, providing leadership for the Licensed Practical Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology and Medical Laboratory Technician programs. In 2019, she was appointed statewide program director and tasked with relaunching the Practical Nursing program across multiple CCSNH campuses, reinvigorating a critical workforce pipeline in New Hampshire.

“When the state turned to CCSNH to create a practical nursing program that could serve every community, we turned to Dr. Glover to develop, launch and lead this critical workforce effort,” said CCSNH Chancellor Mark Rubinstein. “Like each of our institutions, River Valley is a comprehensive community college — yet nearly three-quarters of the degrees and certificates conferred this year are in healthcare and human services. Dr. Glover’s experience as a healthcare practitioner, educator and executive, and her strong relationships within the college and across the region make her the perfect candidate to sustain the good work that President Williams has championed for the past eight years and to which she is already an important contributor.”

“Serving as Interim President is an honor and especially meaningful for me,” said Dr. Glover. “As a graduate of RVCC, I know firsthand the profound impact that higher education has on personal and professional growth. I am excited for the opportunity to serve the college in this time of transition, and I look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners to continue creating opportunities, supporting student success, and building on the strong foundation that makes RVCC such a special place.”

Dr. Glover previously served at the Brattleboro Retreat in Brattleboro, Vermont, as director of professional development and nursing standards and as interim vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer. Outside of academia, she served as chief operations officer for the Concord Orthopedics Professional Association in Concord, N.H., and provided executive leadership support as an outside consultant.

RVCC serves more than 1,000 students annually across its three locations. The college is known for its healthcare programs, but also sees significant enrollment in business and accounting, mathematics, social services, early childhood education, information technology, liberal arts and more; partners with local employers for customized workforce training; and serves high school students through Early College programs. RVCC reports a 93 percent job placement rate for recent graduates and a student-to-professor ratio of 8:1. The college supports students with an array of wraparound services, including transportation assistance and is a New Hampshire Food Bank distribution location.

Earlier this year, RVCC President Alfred Williams announced his plans to retire. Dr. Glover will serve for one year as the board conducts a search for Williams’ successor.
