NHTI Students Part of CiscoLive Dream Team
NHTI Computer Technology students will be part of the “Dream Team” working with Cisco engineers at CiscoLive!, the industry’s premier education and training event.
CiscoLive is one of the most important Cisco customer events of the year. Attendees will hear from Cisco’s leaders about the way technology will redefine the future, and will take part in education and training sessions in several areas of specialization. The students will assist at the week-long event, providing technical support to Cisco teams and customer support to the more than 17,000 attendees.
The two NHTI students are part of a nationwide team of ten, selected from Cisco Academy programs across the country. Students were selected based on technical and professional skills, instructor recommendations, geographic representation, diversity, and activities outside the classroom.
NHTI Cisco Academy instructor Bill Shurbert said, “To have two of our students selected for the CiscoLive Dream Team is a great reflection of the excellence of NHTI’s program and the quality of our students. This will be a tremendous experience for them and I know they will represent New Hampshire well.”
The students are:
David Lynch: David is enrolled in the Cisco Computer Networking Academy (CCSNH)-Security and CCNA-Voice. He is on the Dean’s list and an active team leader in the “flipped classroom” where students present scenarios as part of the learning process. While a student at NHTI, David works as a technical support analyst for a regional computer sales company, while also serving in the US Army Reserve. He enjoys experimenting with Packet Tracer and has participated in Cisco NetRiders.
Dennis Volpe: Dennis is enrolled in the CCSNH-Security and CCNA-Voice, and has participated in Cisco NetRiders. He interned at the NH Department of Transportation working in the Network Operations Center. He maintains a 4.0 grade point average in IT courses. He has been working as a landscaper for several years, but his true passion is networking. He plans to take his CCNA certification and sees CiscoLive as a “chance of a lifetime!”
In addition to working at CiscoLive, students will have opportunities to hear from Cisco’s Chairman and CEO, John Chambers, as well as keynote speaker Richard Branson, and be entertained by the band Journey.
