López, Rice Named to Community College System Board

Concord, N.H. - Esteban López (Goffstown) and Amy Rice (New Boston) have been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH). CCSNH Trustees are nominated by Gov. John Lynch and confirmed by the Executive Council. Esteban López is Director of Diversity Initiatives at the New Hampshire College & University Council, a non-profit consortium of sixteen public and private colleges and universities. He focuses on developing partnerships to connect underrepresented students with higher education opportunities and developing strategies for successfully completing degree programs. A native of Quito, Ecuador, Esteban López earned a degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. López moved to the United States in 2000 where he earned a Master’s Degree in Finance and a second Master’s Degree in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. Esteban López also serves on the Monsignor Philip Kenney Scholarship Advisory Committee, Latinos Unidos Scholarship Committee, as a Board Member at Visión Hispana New Hampshire, Vote Now New Hampshire Hispanics, and the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF), and was appointed by Governor John Lynch on September of 2005 to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, on which he served from 2005 to 2008. Amy Rice is a graduate of Manchester Community College (MCC) and holds an Associate of Science Degree in Medical Assisting. At MCC, Rice was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Rice participated in a college-sponsored Alternative Spring Break service trip to the Dominican Republic on a medical mission with Orphanage Outreach. While a student, Rice served as student representative to the CCSNH Board of Trustees and was active in promoting the college and serving as an ambassador to the community. Amy Rice fulfilled an internship at the Concord Family Health Center as a Medical Assistant Intern. She has previously served as a volunteer advocate for the NH Minority Health Coalition in Manchester, NH. “Amy Rice was a standout student Trustee, and we are delighted that she has chosen to continue her contributions to CCSNH through service as a Trustee representing Alumni,” said chairman of the CCSNH board Paul Holloway. “Esteban López brings an important background in issues related to diversity in higher education. We look forward to both of our new Trustees’ participation on the board.” |
