Position Title: Professor – Architectural Engineering Technology                                                                                          Date Established:  7/01/64

SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students in Architectural Engineering Technology and to provide leadership in the development and implementation of departmental and institutional activities that advance the mission of the college. This position reports to the Architectural Engineering Technology Department Head at NHTI.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, a closely related engineering field, engineering education, physical sciences, education, or related fields. Possession of a Master’s degree in engineering education, physical sciences, education, or related fields will require a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major study in civil engineering technology, civil engineering, or a closely related engineering field.  Possession of a Master’s degree in engineering education, education, physical sciences, shall require twelve (12) graduate credits in civil engineering, or civil engineering technology.

AND

Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in civil engineering, architectural engineering technology, or civil engineering technology, two (2) years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration or six (6) years of business or industry experience directly related to civil engineering, architectural engineering technology, or civil engineering technology, two (2) years of which shall have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration.

 

OR

 

Education:  Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, architectural engineering technology, or a closely related engineering field.

AND

Experience:  Seven (7) years of teaching experience in the field of civil engineering, architectural engineering technology or civil engineering technology or seven (7) years of business or industry experience directly related to civil engineering, architectural engineering technology, or civil engineering technology.

 

License/Certification:  None.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In-depth knowledge of structures, statics and strength of materials, surveying, timber and steel design, concrete design, highway design, and CAD software for structures and civil/ land use. Demonstrated ability to instruct students in the safe operation of tools for hands on projects. Relevant experience working in a civil engineering, construction environment.

 

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:  Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, use of instructional materials and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs.  Complete knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and equipment in subjects being taught.  Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors.  Ability to supervise professional instructional staff and collaborate in development of programs, policies and procedures.  Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations.  Ability to originate and implement new programs and to improve existing programs.  Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.

SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students in Architectural Engineering Technology and related fields and to assist in departmental and/or institutional activities those support the mission of the college.  This position reports to the Architectural Engineering Technology Department Head at NHTI.
