SCOPE OF WORK: Serves as a part of the Admissions Team responsible for providing academic, career, and admissions advisement and guidance to prospective students and process admissions decisions in coordination with appropriate academic departments and divisions. Hours may vary with the demands of the job and will include evening hours. This position shall report to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services at Great Bay Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in education, counseling, student services/development, educational psychology, business management, marketing, or related educational discipline. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in academic counseling, admissions placement, marketing, recruiting or advising in an educational setting.
Licensure/Certifications: Valid drivers’ license and/or access to transportation to perform travel as required
Special Requirements: Hours will vary with student demands and will include evening hours.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Considerable knowledge of learning, behavior, and emotional patterns of young adults. Knowledge of personality, achievement, prognostic, and placement tests and the techniques involved in their use and interpretation. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques. Ability to maintain rapport with students, faculty and staff. Ability to communicate effectively and to prepare written reports. Ability to instruct students, faculty and staff concerning counseling roles and techniques, leadership roles and human relations. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
