Foundation Elects Officers

Concord, NH... The Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation is organized to provide scholarship assistance, enrichment programs, and support for facilities. In the past year, the Foundation provided over $710,000 in scholarships state-wide.

The Foundation Board of Directors elected officers for the coming year at the Annual Meeting which was hosted by Public Service of New Hampshire in Manchester.

Claudette Mahar was re-elected as Chairperson of the Foundation. She has been with the Foundation since it was founded in the year 2000. Ms. Mahar is employed as Vice-President of Hospital Services at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. She received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce in 2005, is a past recipient of the Greater Nashua Charitable Foundation's Humanitarian Award and was named one of NH Edition's "Powerful Women in NH." Her community service includes serving on the Board of Governors of the NH Forum on Higher Education, Chairperson of the Greater Nashua Dental Connection, Inc., serving on the Community Council of Greater Nashua for Behavioral Health and the NH Hospital Association. She had served on the Governor's Advisory Panel for Cancer and Chronic Disease. Ms. Mahar resides in Amherst.

Matthew J. Newland will serve in a new capacity as Vice-Chairperson of the Foundation. Mr. Newland is employed as a Principal Contract Specialist for the Electronic Warfare Business at BAE Systems in Nashua. In that capacity, he negotiates and administers Government and Commercial defense contracts. He has been with the company for ten years. Prior to joining BAE Systems, he was with the Department of Safety in Concord and he served two terms as a State Representative to the New Hampshire General Court. He received a BS in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at UNH in Durham, New Hampshire and he is an NHTI alumnus. He lives in Concord with his wife and two children.

Richard A. Fox was re-elected to serve as Treasurer. Mr. Fox is currently the Director of Finance for St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. He is responsible for the financial operational system of the Hospital, including annual budgeting for all departments. Before joining St. Joseph Hospital, Mr. Fox was Chief Financial Officer for The Medical Group, Inc., a large multi specialty group practice. He is currently the President of Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua and serves on the Board of Souhegan Home and Hospice Care. Mr. Fox received his MBA in Administration from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts and a BS in Accounting from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.

Denis Maloney was re-elected to serve as Secretary of the Foundation. Attorney Maloney is a shareholder in the law firm Gallagher, Callahan, & Gartrell located in Concord. His law practice includes representing clients with corporate, securities, governance and banking matters, as well as forming and advising corporations and private foundations. Mr. Maloney worked for several years with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. in the areas of consumer protection and business competition prior to entering private practice. He has been a long time member and past president of the Board of Second Start, located in Concord, and a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at his local church. Denis and his wife, Linda, reside in Concord.
