Generosity and Commitment
The Foundation was started with only $49,000 in funding and five members, but today has brown to 21 members on the Board and investment assets exceed $5,000,000.
All of the Foundation’s Board of Directors contribute personally to demonstrate their commitment to helping the Foundation fulfill its mission. Even though Board members serve in a volunteer capacity, success stories like this are common, and make the effort worthwhile:
“Like most, I come from a less privileged household. With my mother being a single parent, I’ve seen financial struggle and hardship. My mother would always tell me “You have to go to college, so you can make a decent living. I don’t want to see you struggle to make ends meet.” The only problem with me going to college is, of course, money. I hate to see my mother giving money – which she doesn’t have – toward my education. This scholarship award helps to make it less of a financial burden. It also makes it possible for me to be the first one in my family to attend college.” C.J.
To those who have given so generously in the past, the Foundation Board of Directors and the Colleges extend our sincere gratitude. Together, we are shaping a vision of Access for All who seek higher education in this State. Thank you!
