
CODE OF ETHICS
The Foundation’s staff and volunteers adhere to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct while building and sustaining relationships to garner private support to advance the Foundation’s mission. We strive to inspire others with our dedication and high purpose, and seek to advance the philanthropic profession and culture through our integrity.
In general, we:
- Put the System’s and Foundation’s mission above personal gain.
- Seek and accept only those commitments that specifically advance the mission of the System and Foundation.
- Do not solicit or accept favors for the System or Foundation that would be in conflict with a higher public interest.
- Follow the letter and spirit of laws and regulations affecting philanthropy.
- Avoid actual or apparent conflicts of interest and, if in doubt, seek guidance from appropriate authorities.
- Respect all without regard to race, color, marital status, sex or sexual orientation, creed, ethnic or national identity, handicap and age.
Specifically, we:
- Embrace our Donor Bill of Rights and honor this Code of Ethics in all actions and activities undertaken on behalf of the System and the Foundation.
- Continually update our professional knowledge and adhere to the highest standards of professional fundraising, with all procedures, events and campaigns reflecting the highest standards.
- Neither sell nor exchange lists of donor names with any other agency or enterprise, (non-profit or commercial) without the expressed consent of the donor(s).
- Monitor and minimize all operational and fundraising costs.
- Adhere to our Gift Counting Standards and Gift Acceptance Guidelines.
- Contract for annual audits with an outside firm.
- Comply with all New Hampshire and Internal Revenue Service requirements governing non-profit fundraising; furnish audited financial statements and Internal Revenue Service Form 990 to prospective donors and donors upon request.
- Recognize and show appreciation to all donors in accordance to Internal Revenue Service guidelines and our Donor Stewardship Guidelines.
- Honor any donor desire for anonymity.
