Central NH APICS Chapter donates $10,000 for Lakes Region Scholarship

Concord, NH... The Trustees of the Central New Hampshire Chapter of the Association for Operations Management (APICS) have donated $10,000 to the Community Colleges of NH Foundation to be used for scholarships at Lakes Region Community College in Laconia.

APICS, Inc. a Laconia-based non-profit corporation is in the process of dissolving and its Trustees have voted to donate 100% of their assets to the Foundation.  APICS’ mission is to advance productivity, innovation and competitive success.

APICS Director Christopher Tsakiris (pictured) who served as the APICS Chapter’s VP of Education, presented the gift to Foundation Chairperson, Claudette Mahar, who accepted it on behalf of the College. The Foundation will administer the new scholarship program to Lakes Region students.

Gerry T. O’Neil, the Chapter’s President said the Board of Directors voted to donate all of the chapter’s assets to create a new scholarship program for students who are residents of Belknap, Carroll, or Grafton Counties and are studying Business Administration at Lakes Region Community College. 

Mr. O’Neil said in a written statement “We thank each member and volunteer for your support and for the many good times we had together as we grew through educational programs, workshops, seminars, PDMs and working to further the state of the art over the last 22 years.”

The Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation was incorporated in February 2000 as a 501(c)(3) corporation. The Foundation is overseen by a 20 person Board of Directors. The Foundation's mission is to support the Community College System of New Hampshire by making higher education more accessible.
