Dr. Edward R. MacKay was elected to the Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation Board in March of 2015.
Dr. MacKay has been a leader in higher education in the State of New Hampshire for many years and held several prominent positions, including the Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire. He currently is head of the New Hampshire Division of Higher Education within the Department of Education, where his expertise has been helpful in enhancing collaboration among the K-12, postsecondary education, and business communities.
Ed has served in a leadership capacity on many boards, including the NH College Tuition Savings (“529”) Plan Advisory Commission, Davis Educational Foundation, NH Business & Industry Association, New England Board of Higher Education, National Association of College & University Business Officers (NACUBO), NH Higher Education Loan Corporation, and NH Public Broadcasting. His work has been recognized through honors such as the NACUBO Distinguished Business Officer Award and the New Hampshire State Champion for best practices and support of public education by the New England Secondary School Consortium (NESSC).
He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics and doctorate from Vanderbilt University. Ed resides in Durham with his wife, and their two adult daughters live in Virginia and Connecticut.
