DirectConnect Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria has been identified  to ensure that funds will be used to help people get jobs or further develop their careers in community based direct care:

  • Applicants must be pursuing a course of study to obtain or further develop a career in community based direct care work.  The common thread in these jobs is that they are supporting people who live in home settings in the community versus facility settings.

  • Applicants must live in NH – or - if living outside NH a student must be employed in a direct care setting within the state.

  • Applicants must be applying for a class that is offered at one of the NH Community Colleges and is listed on the DirectConnect Approved Programs list.

  • Applicants must follow each school’s guidelines for admission into certificate and degree programs. No special admissions treatment will be given as a result of DirectConnect funding.

  • Students must remain in good academic standing, consistent with college policy in order to continue to receive scholarship funds.  Students who receive two “F” (failure) grades for courses funded by DirectConnect will become ineligible to receive future funds.

  • Students will be allowed to drop no more than two courses after the end of the add/drop period.

Please note that to be eligible to work in many direct care and human services positions, most employers will require that you have a clean driving record and will perform a criminal background check prior to employment.
