Website Development

These courses provide the person tasked with updating or creating a website a solid foundation of the specifics of web development, management and creation. Courses are designed to give an overview the of most recent software and their capabilities.

  • Introduction to Website Development and Management
    This workshop was designed for someone who is new to the web and wants to have an understanding as to where to begin the journey of developing a web site. Perhaps this person was put in charge of the development of a new site for their company, or was told they must now manage an existing site and, in either case, they have little knowledge as to how to start the process. In this course, we discuss topics like obtaining a domain name, selecting a web host and working with web designers. It aims to bring the student up to speed with the basic concepts and terminology used in web design.

  • Introduction to Functional Web Design
    This workshop assumes a basic familiarity with the concepts above and focuses on some general design concepts. We look at both strong and weak web sites and what can be done to improve them.

  • Introduction to Macromedia Dreamweaver
    This feature-rich site building tool offers an intuitive environment that produces clean HTML code for building cross-platform sites.

  • Introduction to HTML
    This workshop provides an introduction to “Hyper Text Markup Language”. HTML is the code and tags that tell the web browser how to display a web page. Students will use the code view in Dreamweaver to construct a web page(s) while learning the basic tags related to Headings, Tables, Lists, and images.
